Kill a series to save a series

Post by Kong Wen »

I saw this Tweet from Mike Suszek getting a lot of traction yesterday and thought it would be an interesting question to pose to the forum!

"You have the power to bring back one defunct video game series, but it guarantees another will end forever. Name those two series."

The series you're bringing back has to be currently defunct, and the series you're killing off in exchange must be a currently-active series that you're dooming to oblivion.

Claytone proposes the additional requirement that the series you're killing off has to be one you actually care about, so you can't just cheat by turfing something you hate anyway.

I'd doom Dragon Quest / Warrior to oblivion forever and forever if it meant I'd get to play a new Shadowhearts game.

Shocking perhaps but it's true.

As I said in my tweet to you, I think I'd kill Pikmin to get F-Zero back. Or Bayonetta. Really nearly anything.

I would kill anything Mii related series-wise to bring back F zero. Might also kill Animal Crossing, just because I'm not super into it for F zero. I think Mii stuff counts though?

My #controversial pick was to bring back proper Yasumi Matsuno-directed Final Fantasy Tactics sequels at the expense of the main Final Fantasy series and its other spinoffs.

What I'd really like to see make a comeback is X-Wing & TIE Fighter style space-dogfighting sims at the expense of almost anything.

I would kill off the Final Fantasy series aswell, as a blood sacrifice to revive the (Yasumi Matsuno-directed ;) ) Ogre-series.

To be honest, I'd kill any series with the exception of Evil Within to get back Shadow Hearts. And I'd hesitate on Evil Within just because it is such a young series and I want to see where else it goes...and also I preordered EW2...
