I know people like to get this in before the new year starts so I thought I'd make a thread now.

Keeping mine simple:

1) Games purchases to be kept to an absolute minimum again. Figuring on one major board game purchase and a handful of vids, but otherwise I'll be backlogging.

[EDITING TO NOTE]: Over the week I took time to separate a bunch of (board)games from their expansions, with the goal of selling off a large pile of previously beloved (but long since overplayed) titles. I got a reasonable deal for the lot in trade at my local game shop and this afternoon I was able to reclaim about 100 cubic feet in apartment space, backfilled (to a minimal degree) with Machi Koro, Tiny Epic Galaxies: Beyond the Black (net wash, fits in the original box) and Nemo's War.

[DOUBLE EDIT] Failed to mention I also found some Broken Token (laser cut wooden box organisers) at my local comic shop. These are custom insets for specific games (mine was far Lords of Waterdeep?), but this one looked about right for Scythe. At 25% off I took a risk and it sort of paid off. As it stands, I was able to get the first two expansions into a the base box with all components reasonably well sorted. It's kind of a slipshod solution, but that's two more boxes and inserts we can discard (or in this case put in storage for resale value).
On that note, I'm adding a formal 4th resolution as below.

2) Board game more - and with more people. Jen and I play together plenty, but I've also got a good group of friends all eager to play more games, but too lazy to make it happen. Time to officially champion this.

3) Design and build a custom wooden board for War Chest. This will be a fun and attainable project, dedicated to a very worthy game.

4) Clean house. These board games take up a lot of space and there are several I should cut loose either because they're played out or I simply need to cut ties because they never will be played. Tally below:
- Ascension: 4 large sets and 3 small expansions
- Munchkin Deluxe
- Super Dungeon Explore
Natural laws are born and raised in disorder.

Bubblegum: Da House Rules. Da Setting.

Seeing that I horribly failed last year, I’ll focus on things that should be doable for me in 2019.

Including both gaming and gambling goals for this year

• Spend under $1,000 on games (excludes those that involves wagering money [adult activities: must be 19+ locally, 18+ in some provinces], trade-in credit from previously owned video games, or gifts recieved from another person).
Spoiler
January: $1.64
• Spend an average at or less than $200 per month directly from wallet between all gam[bl]ing that was not obtained from gambling.
Spoiler
January: TBA.
Average monthly spend: TBA
• beat two video games in 2019
Spoiler
• In all trips to “the house” in 2019, lose “more than I started” only 50% of those times or less.
Spoiler
Jan. 10: PLAYER (+188)

I've been updating my main post but thought I'd post an actual update post.

Currently on par for everyone but my Handheld goal (However I'm about halfway through Digimon and Chibi Robo) and my Steam goal. However they should be fairly easy to beat. I'm assuming I'll get my 50 game goal fairly easily this year since I am playing a ton of game pass games on stream which plan on being short.

I. Beat twice as many games than I acquire (Excluding PS+/Games with Gold/Game Pass/Rentals/Duplicate Titles) - IN PROGRESS - 7/8
Acquired - 4
List of Acquired Games
  1. Hollow Knight
  2. Digimon World: Next Order
  3. Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash
  4. Pode
Beaten - 7 (Current -1) - 5 (Excluding Steam Current -2)
List of Beaten Games
  1. Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King
  2. Learn Japanese To Survive - Hiragana Battle
  3. Earthbound
  4. Yoshi's Woolly World
  5. Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back
  6. Pode
  7. God of War (2018)
II. Beat 50 total games (Including PS+/Games with Gold/Game Pass/Rentals) - IN PROGRESS - 9/50
List of Beaten Games
  1. Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King
  2. Learn Japanese To Survive - Hiragana Battle
  3. Earthbound
  4. Yoshi's Woolly World
  5. Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back
  6. Pode
  7. Splatoon 2 (Rented)
  8. God of War (2018)
  9. Lumo (Game Pass)

I'm doing OK. Not great, not terrible (about a 3.6). I should be OK on the Switch front because I'll either be beating Link's Awakening or Three Houses this month. My multiplayer goal has pretty much been completed, I just forgot to keep track of the dates of our mass Beat Saber sessions.

The hard part is going to be the platinum trophies, since I'll need to get one per month to make it happen now. The most efficient way to do this would be to double those up with the deep-backlog goal and play a couple pre-2016 games with trophies.

Beating Hexcells knocked out my PC game resolution. I will definitely be beating another Switch game over winter holiday break (probably Link, maybe Pokémon). That leaves the fifth platinum trophy as the real toughie, as they're usually a bit of a time commitment and time is running out. I should probably at least identify something to shoot for...

3. Beat 25+ Games

4. Beat 4 PS4 games
1. Easy, played Portal, Bioshock, and Valkyria Chronicles 4, among others.

2. Beat Super Mario Bros 2, Kirby's Adventure, Super Metroid, among others.

3. Well exceeded this, probably 50+ games

4. Did not meet this one, only beat 2 PS4 games. But, what I didn't anticipate was getting an Xbox One, of which I beat several games for.

Made pretty easily achievable goals for the year, can't say I considered my resolutions too much though the year. One thing I did start this year was keep a log of my gaming purchases, and I do feel like it has managed to keep my spending down!
