There are a lot of games here I haven't played. Mario Kart Wii was decent fun at the time, and better than some of the crappy Mario Karts that had come before. Sonic & Sega All-Stars was a surprisingly decent game as well. I felt like it was more challenging than Mario Kart, like it had more of Sega's classic arcade sensibility—it was more of a proper racing game than a kart-flinging game.

LittleBigPlanet Karting was also surprisingly decent, with a huge focus on user-generated content and customization, as well as non-traditional racing modes.

CNK was a decent kart racer as well. It doesn't hold a candle to CTR, but it was a worthy sequel.

It's timing is awful: A week after Mario Maker 2. I'll pick it up down the road, easily. Just gotta decide... Switch or PS4?

I voted for my nominee, Beach Buggy Racing. It’s basically a mimic of Mario Kart, but it’s grown on me a lot and my kids and I have clocked lots and lots of hours in it. Good family fun and good for solo play, too.

It makes sense, considering the massive stable of ridiculous side-characters and the going fast theme.
