The “Best Light Gun Game” side-event finals include all the games that survived the previous rounds as well as one game that received enough nominations to get a bye. There is 1 poll of 7 games.

Han Solo, who submitted this category, has this to say by way of clarification: “my intentions were to include any type of game where you aim a physical controller at the screen to shoot objects. So a game like The House of the Dead: Overkill would definitely count, because you play it with a Wiimote or a Move controller aimed at the TV despite the controller not actually using light gun technology.”
  • You can vote for 1 game in the finals.
  • The top game will be the official “BEST LIGHT GUN GAME EVER!!!”
  • You can’t change your votes once they’ve been submitted, so click carefully. Voting closes on Saturday at midnight ADT.

Again, it's interesting how the good games in this finals bracket all came out between 1991-1998. That's a pretty tight cluster. Something about our tech levels made that era particularly amenable to that kind of toy gun shooting at the screen paradigm? I guess it's been made obsolete by VR these days?

I believe there was also pressure in North America following the Columbine school shooting to not release more light gun games. I know that Resident Evil Survivor had light gun support in the Japanese and PAL versions that was removed for the NA release.
