How come Paper Mario isn't grouped with the Mario games?

Also what's the difference between Cave Story and Cave Story+? (I've only played +) I assume they're separate since you didn't add [+] to the title.

It's not really a Mario game. It could have ended up in that bracket but the seeding didn't work out that way.

Cave Story+ has some new modes and options. No one specifically nominated that version so we didn't need to make the distinction in the title, but people are more than welcome to vote for this on the basis of that version.

So Mario Kart 64 and Mario Kart 8 would be grouped together but Mario Kart 8 and Super Mario World wouldn't is that correct? Basically this is a mainline mario grouping that happened to have smash group in with it due to rng?

Exactly.

Mega Man 9 trumps Mega Man 2, or at the very least matches it. Easy vote from me.

As for the Mario's... World, Odyssey, 64, Galaxy 2.

I'll also say I haven't been giving Stardew Valley a whole lot of love this BGE due to how similar it is to Harvest Moon, but I've been playing a lot of the multiplayer this week and that really adds to the game. Gets a vote from me.

Portal 2 (2011, Multiplatform)
Punch-Out!! (2009, Wii)
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (1992, Genesis)
Portal is better than Portal 2, so it gets the only leftover vote from me. Celeste, Chrono Trigger, and Planescape: Torment are the others that rise to the top.

Bloodborne (2015, PS4)
Fallout (1997, PC)
Mega Man 9 (2008, Multiplatform)
Ms. Pac-Man (1982, Arcade)
Shadowrun (1994, Genesis)
Street Fighter II: The World Warrior (1991, Arcade)
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (1991, SNES)
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (1998, N64)
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker [HD] (2002, GCN)
A Link to the Past is the only Zelda that I can stomach voting for in a bracket this strong. Bloodborne, Mega Man 9 (the best Mega Man game), and Ms. Pac-Man all deserve votes otherwise.
This Old Neon wrote: 15 Apr 2019 02:22 Poll 3 of 6 - Taste Bracket
Cave Story (2004, PC)
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride (2008, DS)
Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan (2012, 3DS)
Final Fantasy III (1990, FC)
Final Fantasy VI (1994, SNES)
Final Fantasy VII (1997, PS1)
Neverwinter Nights (2002, PC)
Spelunky (2012, Multiplatform)
Undertale (2015, Multiplatform)
Final Fantasy VI should have an easy path through the next couple of rounds. Spelunky is an overall masterpiece, so it gets another obvious easy vote. I'm waffling on whether Undertale and DQV are worth casting runner-up votes, or whether I should play favourites like Sharecrow and leave them be because they're not on the same tier as my "real" votes.

A Mind Forever Voyaging (1985, PC)

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (1997, PS1)
Dark Souls (2011, Multiplatform)
Dynasty Warriors 7 (2011, Multiplatform)
Metal Gear Solid (1998, PS1)
Sid Meier's Civilization V (2010, PC)
Super Meat Boy (2010, Multiplatform)
Dark Souls is one of the best games of all time, so I'm hammering that vote button. Super Meat Boy and SotN and MGS are all top-tier as well. These would all be tough choices close to the finals, so it's crazy to see them here this early.
This Old Neon wrote: 15 Apr 2019 02:22 Poll 5 of 6 - Touch Bracket
Batman: Arkham Asylum (2009, Multiplatform)
BioShock (2008, Multiplatform)
Final Fantasy Tactics (1997, PS1)
Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition (2014, Multiplatform)

Mother 3 (2006, GBA)
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy: Starship Bridge Simulator (1994, SNES)
StarCraft (1998, PC)
Stardew Valley (2016, Multiplatform)
Wing Commander: Privateer (1993, PC)
Final Fantasy Tactics is my favourite game. Arkham Asylum is a fantastic, tightly-designed 3D beat'em-vania. Guacamelee! is the 2D kind.
This Old Neon wrote: 15 Apr 2019 02:22 Poll 6 of 6 - Bracket with Bruce Willis
Galaga (1981, Arcade)
Suikoden II (1998, PS1)

Super Mario 64 (1996, N64)
Super Mario Galaxy (2007, Wii)
Super Mario Galaxy 2 (2010, Wii)
Super Mario Odyssey (2017, NS)
Super Mario World (1990, SNES)
Super Smash Bros. Melee (2001, GCN)
Uplink (2001, PC)
Suikoden II is one of those legendary RPGs. Definitely deserves to kick some other RPGs' pants in a later round. Galaga gets a vote for being an eminently playable influential arcade shmup.
