1. Bioshock, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, Half-Life 2 and Metroid Prime
2. Portal, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

Of these Metroid Prime is my favorit game with Portal and Half-Life 2 second and third.

I either don't care much or don't have much experience with much of the first bracket. I'll toss a vote at Aria of Sorrow. The second bracket is full of great stuff and I had to make some hard cuts! Arkham Asylum is the best 3D metrovania, Demon's Souls is a trailblazing action RPG, Mega Man 9 is how you make a deliberately retro platformer, and Portal is a masterpiece.

I gave Castlevania: An Aria of Sorrow a vote for being fantastic. I almost voted for Metroid Prime as well but decided against it at the last moment. I’m not sure why...

Poll 2 of 2

Animal Crossing (2001, GCN)
Batman: Arkham Asylum (2009, Multiplatform)
Demon's Souls (2009, PS3)
Final Fantasy X (2001, PS2)
Halo: Combat Evolved (2001, PC/XB)

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2003, Multiplatform)
Team Fortress 2 (2007, PC)
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (2002, GCN)

Here I used all four votes. Animal Crossing, for being an amazing and engaging daily adventure, Batman: Arkham Asylum for being a shockingly awesome Batman metroidvania. Final Fantasy X for being my favorite FF and really one of my favorite RPGs of all time. And Prince of Persia: Sands of Time for the interactive puzzles, 3D platforming, and snappy fights throughout. Good game with a good story.

I need to go back and replay Sands of Time. I really enjoyed Prince of Persia (2008), found it to be a nice breath of fresh air with simple design that kind of captured the best of Prince of Persia and the best of Assassin's Creed in a nice package.

The HD version on PS3 is good. And a relatively easy but fun platinum.

Some winners and some tie-breaker-requiring chumps. Let's see how they do.
