Hopefully there's no tie here again!

I spent a lot of time with Mario 3D Land. It was an excellent portable title and a unique twist between the 2d and 2d Mario gameplay. I got a lot of extra playtime out of it with the StreetPass feature trying to get the best clear time on every level. It is also a very pretty 3DS game.

The problem with Metroid is that if you die you start with almost no life and have to grind for it to fill up. It's a boring and tedious process. Even worse the more tanks you get.
I’ve been waiting for the sun to come up. Waiting for the showers to stop. Waiting for the penny to drop. One time. And I’ve been standing in a cloud of plans. Standing on the shifting sands. Hoping for an open hand. One time.

I went with an awesome Metroid game in this pool: Guacamelee!. Besides having a nicely-designed world that's not too little and not too much, it spices up the usual exploraction formula with some seriously tight combat mechanics.
