But I'm also expecting it to have around a 5 year shelf life. I think we've already moved away from the 8 year cycle.
I could see it maybe catching up to the PS4 in a few years if it keeps up rampant, energetic sales and stays in the forefront of pop culture consciousness. Hard to imagine it coming anywhere close to the PS2, or even the Wii for that matter.

One of the beautiful things about a portable console is Nintendo can get some extra mileage out of it after its lifespan as a dedicated home console is over. People have a better tolerance for smaller-scale, cheaper games on handheld. Maybe Switch will go 5 years and then have a long tail of freaky indie games like the Vita and various DS systems have done.

I see the Switch as a portable and I think sales for it will be in line with sales of all of Nintendo's portables. Nintendo's portables always sell very well, often even exceeding or equaling console sales in any given generation. I think the Switch, at the end of its lifetime, will have sales in between the DS and 3DS, but closer to the former (meaning I think it will sell significantly better than the 3DS by the end).

Green and pink joycon were aplenty at Target today, with the yellow, red, and blues being out of stock. I really like the green and pink, but I dont think I could justify buying them. I already have two grey, two blue, two yellow, the 8bitdo SNES Pro controller, and a Nintendo pro controller.

My favorite color is orange, so if they ever make orange joycon I will probably buy them, but for now I have more than enough.

Also worth mentioning is that the green and pink in North America are opposite from those in Europe and Japan. (Left is pink in NA)

So I may have found a great deal on the Japanese green and pink joycon. I will now be able to create the TONe colored Switch.

Exciting! I think at this point I'm waiting for new colors. I'd love to see a purple.

I wasn’t going to buy them, but the price was right. Plus I like that it’s a color combo you can’t get in North America.

Unless you have the Splatoon bundle ;)

Green and pink are easily the best colors though, so can't go wrong.

But aren’t they reversed in the bundle?

It [the bundle here] is the same as the Japanese standalone.
