Re: 2018 Game Clear Thread
99Vidas: Terrible game I still don't really understand how to predict attacks not even worth a download if you have PS+
Mad Max: Why oh why does this game bad scores it's so much fun. I personally enjoyed it more than Skyrim sure theres plenty of things wrong with Mad Max that got annoying but same amount of issues with Skyrim too. Car combat was just perfect and I found myself sinking 6-10 hours a day into this game and beating it in 4 days. Highly recommend.

This was a solid shump. It had a really good flow between using your main weapon and charging up your special weapons while making sure you don't deplete either meter. I was disappointed in the HD rumble though. I heard it was really good and one of the reasons I bought it was to experience it, but it was honestly the weakest rumble I've ever felt. But I got over my disappointment and liked the game despite that.

Re: 2018 Game Clear Thread
Can't really boast about this like I normally would, but I ran a 1CC game in Fever mode of Dangun Feveron the other day... on my first (ever) credit. Very unexpected!
Anyway it's a neat game with a fun, simple-but-robust scoring system, and I'm happy to have it in my collection. Another bang-up port job by M2 and their Shot Triggers division.

Beaten:
1/8 - Flywrench (PSN)
1/13 - Batman: The Telltale Series (PSN)
1/15 - Windjammers (PSN)
1/29 - Panzer Dragoon (Saturn)
2/5 - Hey! Pikmin (3DS)
2/5 - Panzer Dragoon II Zwei (Saturn)
3/13 - Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap (PS4)
4/1 - Forza Horizon 3 (Xbone)
4/8 - Celeste (PSN)
4/23 - Metroid: Samus Returns (3DS)
This was a fun game and a good bit lengthier than the games I've been playing lately (3DS clock has it at about 13 hours). Samus Returns was challenging enough and had rather good bosses. Unfortunately, I didn't play the original Game Boy game, so I don't have that as a reference, but I think this is a strong telling of that story regardless. Much like Wonder Boy, I procrastinated playing the original long enough for a remake to come out. The former, however, was a literal fresh coat of paint over the original, while the latter is substantially different. I'm still interested in playing Metroid II to see how the two weigh against each other.
Tangentially, this game also got me wistful about my career path.
I got my college degree in computer science specifically to make games. I also maintain my second language (Spanish) simply for the love of it and studied abroad in Spain. I've not yet entered the games industry (instead doing web-dev), but I do find myself wondering if a more adventurous me in a parallel universe got his degree, moved to Spain, and got to work at Mercurysteam in Madrid working on Metroid. Wouldn't that have been something?

And my backlog shrinks even further! Axiom Verge was a great metriodvania. It had some power ups that felt fairly unique and made sense for the game. I like how a lot of the skills didn't involve you finding very specific points in the environment to interact with.
I also liked how the upgrades always felt relavent. There comes a point in Metroid where you really don't need 5 More missiles, but in this game it was always either your health, power, bullet range or bullet size - stuff that directly makes you more effective.

Re: 2018 Game Clear Thread
God of War: Nothing like I remembered it. Not being able to move the camera became annoying at times and the game changed to easy mode after i misclicked after falling off a cliff in a platforming section for the 15th time thus making combat so easy and I wasn't able to undo it. Not to mention I missed some trophies due to a bug in the game if you put the vita in sleep mode and then continue playing after trophies won't unlock.
Shantae and the Pirate's Curse: I really enjoyed this I thought it was a retro game but just realized it was 2014 Wii U game. I loved having no lives it made things so much smoother load times were fantastic and while I wasn't a huge fan of the combat it was still fun. Maybe I completely missed something but you were required to find a fossil from a completely different island which then turns into a mask upon talking to a random person on another island to get through a door in a certain level (on a 3rd different island) and I don't believe the game made a very good effort of explaining that as I had to use a guide otherwise very fun.

Re: 2018 Game Clear Thread
Super Lucky's Tale - Really enjoyed this while there were a few annoying things. Struggling with depth perception when killing bees. Limited camera controls and not have the ability to load the next side level after beating the last level instead having to sit through 2 loading screens instead of 1. Otherwise tons of fun unsure if I'll buy the DLC or not.
Dig Dug - Fun little retro game. I love the rocks however the dig everything achievement was dumb even though I did finally get it.
Dead Rising 2:Case 0 - This was my try this game out to see if you'll like the series game and no I don't really like it. The stories fun but the missions seem meh and the time limit stuff sucks. I hate being given a time limit it stressed me out.
