#BGE2020 - Round 1 - Pool 23

Welcome to the first round of #BGE2020 pools!

Each game is randomly seeded into pools using the set generator at Random.org. There's no seeding, no ranking, and no preference or prioritization.

The results of the pools will determine how each game stacks up in the elimination rounds, coming later this year.

HOW TO VOTE

Voting is ranked, but it's not super intuitive, so listen up.

• You have 6 total votes to distribute.
• You can only select up to 3 options.
• You can only give each option up to 3 votes.
• NOTE: The number you pick is not the RANK of your choice (i.e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd), but the number of VOTES you're giving it.
• The more votes (bigger numbers) a game gets, the better for that game.

EXAMPLES

• You could pick three games and order them by giving them 3, 2, and 1 votes.
• If you like three games equally, you could give them 2, 2, and 2 votes.
• If you only like two games, you could give them 3 and 3 votes (or 3 and 2, etc.).

This gives you a lot of granularity for how you assign your votes and thereby a lot of influence over which games can do well. Use your power wisely!

DQVI is one of the better DQ games and, imho, the best of the Zenithian trilogy. Gets my only votes here. DQV is crazy good, too. They should make a tv series about that one... DQIV is also crazy good. Gosh Zenithian is the bomb.

The Zenithian trilogy is indeed the bomb. IV is my fave of them, but the others are good too, and VI is certainly good enough to get my votes here. I also went with a couple of influential classics, Counter-Strike and KoF, as my backup votes.

DQVI is one of the better DQ games and, imho, the best of the Zenithian trilogy. Gets my only votes here. DQV is crazy good, too. They should make a tv series about that one... DQIV is also crazy good. Gosh Zenithian is the bomb.

Your views on the DQ series definitely seem to differ from the consensus I've seen! I typically see DQVI noted as one of the weaker ones.

Who are these monsters?

DQVI is the last one I didn't quite finish in my Dragon Quest Quest. Sadly, DQ games are very hard to pick back up after being away for years... Hell, II and III were hard to pick back up after being away for a couple hours. Still, nothing wrong with starting all over again, I suppose.

Yeah they are. I love VII the most, too! So DQVI does exploration really well. The game gives you very little guidance and you are left to wander guided mostly by your curiosity. That’s what I love about it. It has the vagueness of the first DW but still the scope of a Zenithian game. I think people resist liking DQVI because of that vagueness which I consider a strength. Make me wander! Make me wonder!

[Claytone]

NFL Blitz is one of the greatest games ever made. It's probably in my top 100, maybe 50. Love it. Midway's sports games were an absolute treasure in their prime.
