#BGE2020 - Round 1 - Pool 26

Post by This Old Neon »

Welcome to the first round of #BGE2020 pools!

Each game is randomly seeded into pools using the set generator at Random.org. There's no seeding, no ranking, and no preference or prioritization.

The results of the pools will determine how each game stacks up in the elimination rounds, coming later this year.

HOW TO VOTE

Voting is ranked, but it's not super intuitive, so listen up.
  • You have 6 total votes to distribute.
  • You can only select up to 3 options.
  • You can only give each option up to 3 votes.
  • NOTE: The number you pick is not the RANK of your choice (i.e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd), but the number of VOTES you're giving it.
  • The more votes (bigger numbers) a game gets, the better for that game.
EXAMPLES
  • You could pick three games and order them by giving them 3, 2, and 1 votes.
  • If you like three games equally, you could give them 2, 2, and 2 votes.
  • If you only like two games, you could give them 3 and 3 votes (or 3 and 2, etc.).
This gives you a lot of granularity for how you assign your votes and thereby a lot of influence over which games can do well. Use your power wisely!

If you have questions, ask before voting! :neon:

I gave Dark Souls 3 votes even though I suck at it. It’s deep and lots of fun. I gave Machinarium a couple as it’s a great point and click puzzle game. I’ve played it quite a bit. Finally I threw Battletoads a vote for being two player, hard, and fun.
I never thought I would feel this way, but now I know. Now I know. I never thought I would see things as I see them now, but now I know. I never thought I would hurt so bad, but now I know. Now I know.

Dark Souls is the most obvious choice here, but I just have to throw in a glowing recommendation for the PSP version of Final Fantasy 1. It's by far my favourite remake/remaster of that game. It plays really smooth, has the best combination of weird features that were thrown in for the various remakes on other systems (PS1, GBA, etc.), and looks and sounds glorious. Man, the PSP was an underrated system.

Scared Stones is Fire Emblem, and therefore good, but it's definitely not a stand out of the series. Still gets a couple votes from me.

Rocket Knight Adventures is extremely good. It gets 3 votes from me. Didn't cast any others. Battletoads has merit, but it has some seriously unfair parts that ruin it (no, I'm not talking about the turbo tunnel, which isn't really much harder than a tricky Guitar Hero track), so it loses my vote.
You got BOOST power!
