If the site does go down completely for more than a day or so (realistically, it should go down for at least a brief time while the updates are being applied)—first of all, don't worry, because it's planned and I'm working on it. There are a few ways of staying connected for updates until the site goes back up.

1. We have a Discord server which is now respectably populated. We set this up back when we were testing out on-site chat functionality, and in a pinch, it could be a backup gathering place while we work to get the main site back online.
2. Many of you also have me as a friend on Facebook, where I'm less active but can be reached via Messenger etc.

Tentative start date for these updates will be... today. This evening. I'll leave this thread here for now in case there are any lingering glitches for me to address after the main updates are complete.

Emojis are reportedly broken in the newest versions of phpBB.

OK... so the emoji still shows up, but it comes with a broken image symbol as well (at least for me). I'll keep my eyes peeled for a fix for that little issue. Does it happen with custom board emojis too?



No.

UPDATE: Applied a quick patch to get this fixed already.

Alright, judging by the appearance of the parchment paper person, we've got new user registration back online (with upgraded anti-spambot functionality to boot!). The forum is in better shape than it has been in years.
