I did not expect myself to get the silent hill 2 remake so soon, but it's spooky season so I caved. Loved playing through these games back on the PS2. The remake feels for the most part what I remember from the game, despite being quite different in presentation. Comparing it to contemporaries like Resident Evil and Alan Wake I thought it was pretty good. At times probably the most on edge I've been during a horror game. I do feel the game was a few hours too long, but I'm also very slow and meticulous when playing.

2024-10-24 - Howl (PS5) - Excellent little turn-based puzzle game. Picked it up on sale for $7.50 CAD and finished it in 7.5 hours, for a cool $1/hr of entertainment value. Every time you act, the enemies act. You have to use your skills and enemy positioning to clear levels and accomplish feats (defeat all enemies, reach the goal within a certain number of turns, etc.). It has a nice aesthetic, but the plot is ultimately secondary to the puzzles.

Finally finished my first Castlevania that is a "metroidvania". This one was pretty simple, but it was good all around. I would not have had the patience for it without the ability to rewind, especially to be Dracula. Screw that.

Aria was a much more rounded experience compared to Circle. Cool abilities, more weapon variety, balanced difficulty. Actually quite a bit shorter than I thought - but short and sweet.
