TIE, X-Wing, Lucas games coming to GOG

Post by Kong Wen »

The big "new publisher" reveal at GOG is apparently going to be LucasArts, according to some, what, forum/comment threads some clever NeoGaffers have discovered?

I'm pretty pumped to play the TIE Fighter and X-Wing games again. Those were the apex of space combat gaming.

Very excited about this. I got the Lucas Arts game pack on Steam. Some of the very best in PC gaming was created by Lucas Arts.

Here's the official confirmation on GOG, including a list of the launch games (more are coming soon):

Star Wars: X-Wing Special Edition - digital distribution debut, on GOG.com!
Star Wars: TIE Fighter Special Edition - digital distribution debut, on GOG.com!
Sam & Max Hit the Road (Windows + Mac + Linux!) - digital distribution debut, on GOG.com!
The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition
Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis (Windows + Mac + Linux!)
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

It's going to be awesome to be able to play X-Wing and TIE Fighter on modern systems without having to mess around.

It's amazing how long most of these games have been in distribution purgatory. I guess Disney getting the rights to Lucas Arts is having a few positive effects.

For Lucas it would have been a bold new step to sell people what they want. Otherwise we wouldn't have to sit through those Special Editions. ;-)
