New gameplay was shown off last night during the Game Awards.

My first impression is that it still needs a lot of work, mainly for polishing and adding more to the environments, but there's a lot of potential.
The world is quite big, and exploration seems to have a big role as you can set beacons to head towards and go to hight cliffs to see where you want to go.
Four things that stood out to me
1. Automated horse riding - Sort of like Wind Waker how the boar could sail on its own while you did other things. Also your horse will automatically avoid trees and the like.
2. Slow mo - You can vault over your horse in slow motion to aim your bow and shoot.
3. Sailcloth - goes along with expolration, like the Deku Leaf in Wind Waker
4. Weakpoints - Enemies have specific weak points for you to hit

Re: The Legend of Zelda for Wii U
At first glance, it reminded me of TP. The few mechanics shown are interesting, but still need polishing. Probably planned for second half of 2015? Anyway, need to see more footage before I can judge it. But I didn't need that many for the last Zelda on Wii, so I'll probably get it without a doubt.

I'm not big on the 3D Zelda games, but this has me intrigued, to say the very least.
Re: The Legend of Zelda for Wii U
If they really do focus on freeing the player up, then The Legend of Zelda: Open Field U could end up being a rare good 3D Zelda game. Skyward Sword would have been so much better if it weren't for the booooooring 2-hour linear tutorial fetch quests and hand-holding.

I was thinking of this too, either they must have had inspiration from this or they've finally been able to create the Zelda game they envisioned, or both!Spore wrote:

Well put. That intro made me not play the rest of the game. I own it and still haven't played it past that intro because I got so bored.Kong Wen wrote:If they really do focus on freeing the player up, then The Legend of Zelda: Open Field U could end up being a rare good 3D Zelda game. Re: The Legend of Zelda for Wii U
An item I really want to come back which I feel would work well in this game is the lantern. The only 3D title we've seen it in was Twilight Princess I believe but I thought it really lended itself towards the exploration feel of the game. It would look great in this game going through gaves with it, having the light being reflected off the walls and little pools of water in HD.

This looks like it could be a fantastic game. I can't wait to here more about it at e3
Edit: Nintendo said they won't announce anything else until then.

Should be a good E3 then! For E3 I expect them to go over the major features of the game (dungeons, unique gimmick, side quests, story) as of right now we really only know that the world will be big and semi-open.Slurmee wrote:This looks like it could be a fantastic game.
