#BGE2020 - Round 1 - Pool 8

Post by This Old Neon »

Welcome to the first round of #BGE2020 pools!

Each game is randomly seeded into pools using the set generator at Random.org. There's no seeding, no ranking, and no preference or prioritization.

The results of the pools will determine how each game stacks up in the elimination rounds, coming later this year.

HOW TO VOTE

Voting is ranked, but it's not super intuitive, so listen up.
  • You have 6 total votes to distribute.
  • You can only select up to 3 options.
  • You can only give each option up to 3 votes.
  • NOTE: The number you pick is not the RANK of your choice (i.e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd), but the number of VOTES you're giving it.
  • The more votes (bigger numbers) a game gets, the better for that game.
EXAMPLES
  • You could pick three games and order them by giving them 3, 2, and 1 votes.
  • If you like three games equally, you could give them 2, 2, and 2 votes.
  • If you only like two games, you could give them 3 and 3 votes (or 3 and 2, etc.).
This gives you a lot of granularity for how you assign your votes and thereby a lot of influence over which games can do well. Use your power wisely!

If you have questions, ask before voting! :neon:

I went with Altered Beasts and with the best MGS game: MGS2. IMHO. Anyway, also one of the best games on the PS2. Epic.
I never thought I would feel this way, but now I know. Now I know. I never thought I would see things as I see them now, but now I know. I never thought I would hurt so bad, but now I know. Now I know.

Hate to break it to you, but there are no Metal Gear Solid games in this pool... I think you may have voted for the Sony MSX2 game rather than the Sony PS2 game. :)

Holy poop that’s what I get for multitasking. Or that’s what MSX2 gets, more specifically. My MGS2 accolades still stand. And Altered Beast is the bomb.

Metal Gear 2 is a hell of a game too so I don’t think my vote would have been different. Phew!

Indeed! I will continue to bang on the drum of MG2:SS being one of the finest 8-bit games ever played until I've convinced enough people to play it. Really, really great. I can't imagine anyone that liked MGS1 *not* liking MG2. They're very similar, and the events of MG2 play right into MGS1. The level of storytelling was also an absolute cut above for its time, even if it has been outdone by later entries in its own series. Lovely game. I owe it a replay sometime.

Also gave votes to Contra and Arkanoid. Kind of stacked pool here, really! Any of these three might've gotten my 3️⃣vote in another pool.
You got BOOST power!
