Re: Round 6: The Cretan Bull
really tough choices.
Pokemon Red/Blue does not deserve to advance in my opinion. It is the worst Pokemon generation in the franchise, objectively speaking. You can like the Pokemon that are specifically in it, but the game itself is broken, full of bugs and lacks a lot of depth from the later entries in the franchise.
Tetris deserves to advance, however. It's still a fun game to this day and no matter how many times it's remade, the essential formula is much the same. And you can honestly just go back to the NES or Gameboy or what have you and play an older tetris game and it's still enjoyable.
I also voted for Baldur's Gate and VC. I'm not a big WRPG guy, but I really enjoyed Baldur's Gate. It was simply a blast to play. I'm a big fanboy of VC as well. I basically purchased a PS3 purely for that game (originally). Before I saw it, nothing really interested me on PS3. But once I saw somebody stream it, I fell in love, and it met my expectations once I actually played the game. The gameplay is very original and enjoyable, combining a lot of the good aspects of strategy games, rpgs and even shooters (though in all honesty the shooter aspects of the game are minimalistic). It plays like a refined Hogs of War or Sakura Wars game, but does everything better. I also enjoyed the characters and story even though they could be cheesy and one-note at times.
There's a lot of other games on this list I enjoyed as well, so voting proved tough this time.

Re: Round 6: The Cretan Bull
Wow this was tough.
Pokemon.
Metal Gear Solid. What a revelation this game was. In my opinion it was the start of "modern games". The story was fantastic, the characters were great and for the time, I'd never played anything like it. I remember my Dad buying the collector's edition on launch day and I watched him play through it. It was like playing through one of the coolest movies ever, except it seemed to go on and on and on, which was great. Sadly for me, the series went a little off the rails even if I do dabble in them from time to time. They just don't hold that specialness the original brought to the table.
Also KOTOR. Wow. I never thought a game like this could ever exist. I was a massive massive fan of Star Wars and this was really my dream game. I don't know how many times I played through the thing, but it never seemed to get old. Seriously one of the best games ever.

Too many games to discriminate. Voted to my maximum.
Re: Round 6: The Cretan Bull
Surprised to see VC so well received. It's good but I didn't think better than the company here.
lol hello

This bracket is really hard as basically every game on here is amazing and pretty well-received.Forscyvus wrote:Surprised to see VC so well received. It's good but I didn't think better than the company here.

Tetris and Metal Gear Solid will be my only votes this bracket. I'll save my words on them for when they're really going up against titans, as I'm sure both will go deep.

Re: Round 6: The Cretan Bull
I know a lot of people preferm Rayman Origins over Legends, but I'm the other way around. Origins is a good game but I ultimately felt Legends was the more inventive platformer.

Tetris, Metal Gear Solid, and Rayman Origins will advance to the final qualifying round!
A tie-breaker between Pokemon Blue & Red, Baldur's Gate, and Valkyria Chronicles will be posted soon. Two of those three games will also advance.
