Welcome to the #BGE2020 Elimination Round of 256!
Each game is seeded based on its performance in the two opening rounds of pools. Every game in the Upper Bracket has defeated multiple other games in 1-on-1 polls to get to this point. These are still the best of the best.
Polls are updated weekly, typically on Sunday or Monday. Check back throughout the week to make sure you don't miss a vote!
HOW TO VOTE
This is easy. You only get one vote per poll. The game with the most votes wins. In the event of a tie, the higher seed advances, so don't get complacent!

Re: Top 256 — Week 1 — Poll 21
Tales of Symphonia is the best Tales game I’ve played and, as y’all know, I adore these things. So much to see and do…lovely.
I never thought I would feel this way, but now I know. Now I know. I never thought I would see things as I see them now, but now I know. I never thought I would hurt so bad, but now I know. Now I know.
Re: Top 256 — Week 1 — Poll 21
Mega Man 2 has enough flaws that, even though it's excellent and fun to play, I would probably not vote for it for the overall title of this contest. There are a lot of games that could run it off the track. Symphonia is not one of them. IMO.

Re: Top 256 — Week 1 — Poll 21
Mega Man 2 ought to win on the basis of being the first great Mega Man and arguably the best of the original series. I had a friend in elementary school who insisted Dr. Wily's name was pronounced "willy". Not that that's relevant. But, Tales of Symphonia was my first exposure to a classic JRPG series other than FF and I loved it to bits. There was something deeply compelling about the story and the nutjob turn it takes halfway through the game. The characters are well-written and well-voiced, and feel like real people in a way JRPG characters sometimes don't. The backstories are great, too, especially for Presea and Regal. This was the first game I enjoyed so much I refused to stop until I'd done literally every possible sidequest, cutscene and easter egg in the game. It's not a rational reason for a vote, but there it is.
